Short version: no accounts and no tracking. The app collects no usage data at all, and the website only counts visits, without cookies. Your settings and saved pins stay on your computer.
Who is responsible
something, the creative haus that makes tak. Contact: [email protected].
This website
No cookies and no advertising pixels. Fonts are served from this site, not from Google. The site is hosted by Cloudflare, which keeps standard server logs (IP address, time, page requested) for security. We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and doesn't follow you to other sites: we see totals such as visits per page and country, never who you are. The installer is downloaded from GitHub, which logs downloads under its own privacy policy.
Buying tak
Lemon Squeezy takes the payment and is the seller of record: they process your name, email, billing country and payment details under their own privacy policy. We receive your email address and order details so we can send your licence and answer support requests. We keep them for as long as tax law requires.
The app
tak only connects to the internet for the three things below. During the 7-day trial it doesn't contact the licensing service at all. It never asks for your Pinterest password and reads nothing but the public board you give it.
| Connection | Why | What the other side sees |
|---|---|---|
| widgets.pinterest.com, i.pinimg.com | Read your public board and download its images | Your IP address and the board's address, as with any visitor to a public board. Pinterest's privacy policy applies. |
| somethinghaus.com | Look for a new version, once a day or less (you can turn this off) | Your IP address and tak's version number |
| api.lemonsqueezy.com | Activate your licence on up to 3 computers, then check it about once a week | Your IP address, your licence key and this computer's name, so you can tell your computers apart in your order page |
Everything else stays on your computer: your settings, the saved pins, a copy of the wallpaper you had before tak, and a log file for troubleshooting. Uninstalling tak deletes all of it.
If you try your own board on this website, your browser loads it directly from Pinterest. It never reaches us and nothing is stored.
Email sign-ups
If you ask us to email you the download link, or to tell you when tak is on Mac, we keep your email address with our email service, Brevo, for that and nothing else: the link plus one reminder, or one email when the Mac version is out. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can ask us to delete your address at any time.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask to see, correct or delete the personal data we hold (in practice, your order email), or object to its use. Write to [email protected]. You can also complain to the data protection authority where you live.
